Navratri is a nine-day festival celebrated in all parts of India, each region celebrating it in different forms. The festival is dedicated to the worship of goddess Durga and her nine forms, and the festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil.People keep "Bommai kolu",decorate their homes, keep pandal and worship goddess durga, perform garba and dandiya dances and celebrate the festival in different ways.

At Ekadaksha Learning Center,Navratri was celebrated with enthusisasm where children and teachers performed skit, dance, kept golu and enjoyed the festive celebration.

The message that,"Everyone has the power to chase the evil and make room for good things to happen" - was conveyed to the children by performing a simple skit.

When everyone gathered dressed up well enthusiastically to celebrate Navratri, the celebrations couldn't begin as a demon entered the place and was disturbing everyone hindering them from celebrations. All the children and teachers then seeked help to chase the demon away.As they cried for help,Goddess Durga appeared before them and said, she would help them giving power to each and every child to chase the demon(evil) away.

One by one,all the children came and hit the demon with an arrow and finally the demon got scared and ran out of the center. Thus,it was understood that everyone of us has the power to chase away the evil within us and around us,once the bad is removed we make room for good things to happen.

Navratri Celebrations:

The celebrations then began with a simple kolu - a display of art and craft products made by our children using the waste materials.

"Art from waste" - a display of products made by children of Ekadaksha - adorned the kolu. After the display,a simple puja was done and the importance of Health,Wealth,Knowledge and Happiness was explained using charts and with apt music. On the auspicious occasion of Navratri everyone offered prayers to Goddess Durga seeking good health, wealth, knowledge and happiness.Class wise all the children took a look at the kolu and clicked group pictures. Children and Teachers of Express A performed a vibrant dance celebrating the victory of triumph over the evil.
