Ekadaksha Learning Center brought together the traditions of North and South India for this festival.
The traditional Golu (a set of dolls/ stories mostly done in South India) was set up. The Golu at the Center however, did not consist of dolls. Pictures and models of all that was taught in the center and artwork done by the children was displayed.
We did puja and then played the Dandia dance (a traditional dance of Gujarat, North India, using wooden sticks). The children followed the steps shown to them and then did their own steps. In this way there was a blend of traditions.
