Krishna Jayanthi marks the celebration of the birthday of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna was born to protect people against the evil deeds of Kamsa. Lord Krishna also stood by the Pandavas during the Mahabharatha war. Almost every child in India must have heard the childhood stories of the naughtiness and intelligence of Lord Krishna.
At ELC, Krishna Jayanthi was celebrated with joy and excitement. Our Founders, Archana and Bharathi gave a simple explanation of Krishna Jayanthi. Archana used the Avaz app to explain that this day is Lord Krishna’s birthday. She told the children that Lord Krishna was a naughty little boy but also very intelligent. She showed the children Lord Krishna's craziness for yummy white butter (makhan). Bharathi displayed the art works done by our children. Each class took a group photograph with the lovely art work they had made for Lord Krishna.
Then it was Bhajan time. Devotional songs were sung by our Volunteer Archana Joshi who sang “Achudham Kesavam” and Volunteer Ganga who sang “Kannan engal Kannan aam”. This was followed by a song to invite Lord Krishna to come to our homes in which he is welcomed with great love. The bhajan "Hare Krishna, Hare Rama" created a vibe for the celebration with the children and teachers clapping and singing along.
No celebration is complete without a dance. A circle was formed and everyone danced in rhythm to " Govinda bolo". They danced with joy celebrating the music and Lord Krishna.
The children and teachers also enjoyed eating the yummy snacks – Murukku and sweet appam, a favourite of Lord Krishna’s.
May Lord krishna come to all our homes to fill it with joy, good health and happiness. Click here to see the vibe and celebrations for Shri Krishna.
