Ekadaksha had their sports event "Sports fun activities" as part of their sports series on 28th of November 2025 at Wesley Turf and Fitness club,Royapettah,Chennai.
This time the sports activities were kept simple but the main focus was to give exposure to a new environment and to give opportunity for our children to interact with outsiders.Few well wishers of Ekadaksha,Mr.Gautham Gopal,Mr.Kailash,Mr.Vignesh and Ms.Tanuja joined us to be part of the fun event.
Each house group got introduced to the guest and that person was part of the house group for all activities of the day.Mr.Gautham was part of Red house,Mr.Kailash in blue house,Mr.Vignesh in Green house and Ms.Tanuja was part of the Yellow house respectively.
For the children to get a feel of ease,first the house group teachers introduced the guest to the children one by one,and they had few initial interactions with the person with simple exchange of information verbally and through the Avaz app.They shook hands with each other and had a warm up ball play,passing the ball to each other,to get along and to gel as a group.
After the warm up activity,they had two relay races,
First one,the bucket relay,where the first child has to carry the empty bucket,run along the track,pick up a bean bag from the tray kept at the other end,put the bean bag inside the bucket,come back running in their track,give the bucket to the next child and so on.The house which finishes picking up all the eight bean bags and collecting them in their bucket were the winners.Red house were the winners in this bucket relay race.
The Second game was the Instrument Relay race.Each house were given 4 different instruments which were kept in a tray at the start point.Once the whistle blow,the child has to take an instrument of his/her choice,play the instrument simultaneously while walking in the track and drop the instrument inside the tray kept at the other end.After the first child sits at the other end,the second child has to get up,pick up another instrument of his/her choice,play the instrument and walk in the track to reach the end.Whichever house completes transfering all the four instruments first were declared the winner.Green house were the winners in this Instrument Relay race.
The groups posed for a group picture at the end of the races.It was so much fun playing the games.All the children played so well independently and they were able to interact well and play along with the new person in their group.
The sports event was a day of fun and learning.By giving them the exposure to a new environment and new people it was indeed a great learning opportunity for the children and teachers.The guests had a great time interacting with our children and they were also able to come to know how much our children are capable of - doing so many tasks independently.Our children also learnt appropriate behaviour when they are in a situation to get along with new people.
