Attention deficit issues
ADD (Attention deficit disorder), AD/HD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
Inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity are the characteristics associated with children who have attention deficit issues. Inattention refers to difficulties in focusing on tasks, hyperactivity refers to difficulty in controlling behaviour and the need to be in constant movement, and impulsivity refers to the difficulty in controlling impulses and acting without thinking. The degree of attention deficit varies among children.
These characteristics should be present in at least two settings (home, school, work place etc.) and must interfere with the social, academic, or occupational functioning. It is usually diagnosed in childhood and the signs can be seen before seven years of age.
