What we do - Ekadaksha Learning Center Chennai - By Stephen Eastop

Kamalesh, star of December 2020, Ekadaksha learning center,chennai*KAMALESH*

Age:  14 years

During the lockdown: Positive changes in listening and doing his routine.

Communication & Socialising: He has improved in receptive communication i.e. listening to what is being told to him. He also listens to his mother when she advises him to sit quietly and control himself when he is jumping too much. His bond with his younger sister has improved. 

Activities of daily living: Formed a rotine and does it well. He is able to dress himself independently. 


 

Deva, star of December 2020, Ekadaksha learning center,chennai*DEVA*

Age:  7 years

During the lockdown: Positive changes in understanding and socialising.

Communication & Socialising: He is now able to understand simple instructions and communicate his basic needs like snacks etc. He is able to understand others pain and takes initiative to take care of the person who is in pain. When his mother is not well he takes care of her by being next to her and also making sure to reduce the volume of the TV so as not to disturb her.

He is also able to understand different relations and is able to identify who are close relations and who are not. He has started playing with friends and imitating them. He takes initiative to mingle with them. 

Activities of daily living: He has improved in bathing, brushing and using the restroom. 

Helping at home: He follows his mother's instructions and helps by bringing remote, tumbler, plate, pillows, sorting vegetables etc. 


Raghul, star of December 2020, Ekadaksha learning center,chennai*RAGHUL*

Age: 15 years

During the lockdown: Positive changes in understanding and socialising. 

Communication & Socialising: He is able to communicate his needs appropriately, sometimes with prompts. He responds well to activities related to communication. His relationship with his parents and grandmother has improved. He is able to relate to everyone at home. He tries to pacify his parents when they are upset and also does simple activities when requested by his grandmother. 

Activities of daily living:  He has improved and become more independent in doing his work.

Helping at home: He helps in any work that is requested by his parents. He mops the floor when anything spills, bringing water, clearing the place after eating, switching on and off the fan, charging the phones etc. 

Functional academics: He is showing interest in doing all the activities. He has a positive attitude towards his teacher and school. He had tried to convey his wishes to his class teacher on the occasion of Teacher's day. 


Sam, star of December 2020, Ekadaksha learning center,chennai*SAM*

Age:  16 years

During the lockdown: Positive changes in communication and helping at home. 

His parents have now started understanding him for his age. They are now treating him like a smart young man. He is getting bored at home, but knows that he has to keep safe and occupies himself with I pad, TV, activities, chatting with family and helping at home. He has also thought about what he would like to do once the lockdown is over like running a marathon, earning money etc. 

Communication & Socialising: He is showing lots of interest and improvement in talking to everyone at home. He is trying to cut down his talks about unnecessary topics. 

He has developed a bonding with all in the family and has started respecting everyone. When his mom is angry, he waits for her to calm down and tells her to explain things properly rather than getting angry. 

He has cut down his I pad and TV time to give time for prayers. He has become matured and is praying for farmers and corona patients. 

Activities of daily living: He has become more organized and independentin doing his work. He is initiating to do his work on his own. He is also becoming more independent in using the restroom. 

Helping at home: He is helping in the kitchen work like making chappati dough, organizing the groceries, peeling the vegetables etc. He ceans the floor and helps in drying the clothes by putting and removing the clips. He takes his own plate after eating and keeps it in the basin for cleaning. 

Functional Academics: He is showing more interest in doing activities of the Ekadaksha planner.
