*JOSHITA*
Age: 10 years
During the lockdown: Positive changes in communication and learning.
Communication & Socialising: Communication has improved a lot. She is able to verbalize and make sentences to express her basic needs. She is able to sit and attend a 45 minute one on one online speech class. She has understood about her little baby brother and is developing a good bond with him. She now has the time to play with him.
Activities of daily living: She is becoming independent in brushing teeth, bathing and using the restroom.
Helping at home: He helps her parents plucking curry leaves and sorting vegetables.
Activities: She is now able to jump independently and is doing fine motor activities very well. She has also achieved number counting.
New learning and interest: She is learning to skip and play bat-ball. She is very interested in painting an loves to paint.
*DEEPAK*
Age: 9 years
During the lockdown: Positive changes in communication and socialising.
Communication & Socialising: Communication has improved He is able to answer simple questions and his echolalia has reduced. He is able to express his sadness by crying. He is also able to learn and understand more words that are spoken to him. He has developed more attachment with his mother. He enjoys playing with his cousins and neighbours. He has noe started to call them to play with him. His anger and beating others to express this has reduced a lot. Instead, he is trying to communicate well.
Activities of daily living: He is taking initiative to bathe independently.
Helping at home: Every morning he makes the bed and arranges the pillows. He also helps his mother by bringing the things which she asks for.
Functional academic activities: He is able to do all the activities sent by Ekadaksha very well. He is able to do simple activities independently.
Interest: He loves music and enjoys singing Tamil movie songs.
*ABISHEK*
Age: 19 years
During the lockdown: Positive changes in communication and adapting to different situations. He is a boy who loves to go out, but he has understood the situation and that he needs to be at home. He has learnt that there will be a specific day and time when he will be taken out and he has accepted that well.
Communication & Socialising: During the first few days of lockdown he was very irritated and would shout if anything was told to him. He would become anxious and overwhelmed if given any instructions. He was given opportunities to communicate through pictures and gestures. He was also explained the need to communicate appropriately so that he is understood. This way he realised the need to communicate without getting anxious or irritated, to be calm and tell what he thinks or feels. He also started responding positively to instructions given to him.
He also communicates well with his grandparents when he meets them as well as on video calls.
Activities of daily living: He does not resist to do his regular routines anymore and finishes his work quickly.
Helping at home: He likes to clear the table after eating lunch and helps to transfer left over food into boxes. He helps his parents happily with any other work that they request him to do.
*DEVANK*
Age: 7 years
During the lockdown: Positive changes in doing activities and learning. Initially he wanted to go out, but slowly started understanding the situation and got used to the routine at home.
Communication & Socialising: He is spending more time with his parents. He has become closer to his father now.
Activities of daily living: He is eating independently. He needs a little help to brush his teeth. He is able to bathe by himself with a little supervision since he loves playing with water.
Helping at home: He fills the water bottles when his mother requests it.
New skills learnt: He is doing activities of the Ekadaksha planner very well and enjoys doing the activities most of the time. He is able to write alphabets, words and numbers with a slight physical prompt from his mother. He has learnt to blow the whistle and this has become his favourite activity.
