The story "Unity is strength" was narrated and enacted by Ms.Madhumitha,Special educator,ELC.

The story began with describing about farmer and the different fruits and vegetables the farm gives us.The narrator enacted how the farmer produces fruits,vegetables in the farm.She explained about how farm animals help us in farming and involved the children in the story by singing the "Old Macdonald had a farm" song.Children were given farm animal puppets and they made sounds of the animals - cow,dog,duck,pig etc by singing and making sounds along with the narrator.

The narrator then moved on to the story "Unity is strength". She brought in the character of 'Old MacDonald' and explained how staying together and united can make us feel stronger and positive.She called the children in groups,gave them single sticks and when asked to break,everyone broke the single sticks.She then bundled together a few sticks. and tried breaking them.

Thus the concept of "Unity is strength" was explained in a practical way which our children could understand.Single sticks were easily breakable whereas the bundle of sticks,when stayed together remained strong and was unbreakable.

Children enjoyed the story and had fun.They also learnt,how being together,being united as a group can help us remain positive,happy and make us stronger.
