The children of Ekadaksha enjoyed doing the "Magic bubble experiment" which was planned and conducted by Ms.Akila,Special educator,ELC.
The simple science behind the experiement is,
Cotton bud has a lot of spaces which traps air in it.When the cotton bud is dipped into water,the liquid pressure forces the air trapped in the spaces to come out.Perfume has a high concentration of alcohol and aromatic essential oils,which do not mix with water.When perfume is sprayed over the cotton bud and then the cotton bud dipped into the glass of water,the perfume layer repels water,speeding up the release of air,thus causing a lot of tiny bubbles to pop up.
Experiment fun time at ELC:
The teacher gave a lively introduction. She made an entry by spraying bubbles all over the place using a bubble gun,thus catching the attention of the children.She then explained to the children that by doing a simple experiment,they could create the bubbles themselves. A demo was given by the teacher,clearly explaining the process and rules to be followed.Children did the experiment themselves in batches.The instructions were kept simple that could be followed easily by the children.
Take water bottle
Pour water into the small disposable cup
Add food color (blue color)
Mix with wooden spoon
Take the cotton swab and dip into the water cup
Observe tiny bubbles popping up.
By breaking the instructions into simple ones,all our children were able to do the experiment independently.
The magic of spraying perfume over the cotton bud was done by the teacher by saying "Abra ca dabraa". This further increased the curiosity of the children.After the magic spray was done,when children dipped the cotton bud in water,bubbles popped up like a "fizzzz" and children were excited to see the tiny tiny bubbles popping out in the water cup.The blue color added an additional visual effect to see the bubbles more clearly.

The experiment time ended with spraying bubbles again and children playing with it. This experiment time enabled our children to listen to instructions,take and put back the materials in place,wait for their turn,focus and observe keenly.Our children had fun and also achieved a sense of accomplishment by doing the task independently.
