The traditional game "Poo parika varugirom" was modified as "Flower game" making few changes to suit our children. The activity was planned and conducted by Ms.Priya,Assistant Teacher,ELC.

The children were divided according to their houses and each house was given a flower name.

Red house - Lotus

Blue house - Rose

Green house - Sun flower

Yellow house - Hibiscus.

Pictures of the flowers were stuck in four corners and the children sat near their flowers accordingly.

The game went like this - the teacher sang the song "Poo parika varugirom..Poo parika varugirom" and when the groups question "Entha poovai parikireer(which flower do you want?)", the teacher says the name of the flower she chose and goes near that particular flower group. From that group, again she sings song and chooses one particular child from that group. In this way she teacher chose one flower (child) from each flower group. These four chosen children come to the center of the circle. The teacher then blind folded herself and ran to catch the children as they tried to save themselves. The teacher ran behind the children till one was caught by her. The game continued till every child got a chance to play. The child who wasn't out till the end was declared the final winner.

It was such a lovely game and all the children enjoyed playing it. The game provided rhythm, repetition, visuals, actions, movement and fun.The game was an opportunity to relax and enjoy, but at the same time learn and improve their listening skills and focus.
