"Exploring musical instruments" was planned and conducted by Ms.J.Sumangali,Special educator,ELC.
Music and rhythm is a part of everyone's life.Music soothes the soul and gives a feeling of relaxation.Music when incorporated as a part of our routine, helps us remain calm and joyful throughout the day.
At Ekadaksha,Music is a part of the curriculum and children enjoy their music time.Instrumental music, bhajans, movie songs, healing music are all played regularly during music time.Children are also given opportunities to explore different kinds of instruments.
One such activity of Exploring musical instruments was done which was enjoyed by all our children. Each class was given an instrument - Express A did free hand clapping,Express B hit the tumbler with a spoon,Experience A class played drums and Experience B class had the Jal Jal.
Each class teacher first demonstrated a rhythm which was followed by that class children. While one class played the instruments, other children listened to it.In the next round, the rhythm chosen and played by one class was followed by other classes too.The children listened to the rhythm, picked it up and played the same rhythm. In the last round Ms. Sumangali said "Start" all the classes played their instruments in a rhythm and when she said "stop",they stopped playing the instrument and remained silent.
The activity was interesting with children actively participating in it.They listened to the rhythm well, were able to follow and reproduce the same rhythm. All the children did independently and it was a musical treat.
