Color Volcano Experiment was planned and conducted by Ms.J.Sumangali,Special educator,ELC.
It was a simple, colorful experiment which works on the basic principle. When sodium bicarbonate reacts with acetic acid,it forms a chemical reaction releasing carbondioxide gas which forms bubbles and erupts like a volcano.
In a paper cup, little baking soda was put and to give it a vibrant touch, bright food colors were used. After this, Cooking vinegar, which contains acetic acid was poured along with a little dishwash liquid. When the vinegar ans soap combined with the baking soda, foamy bubbles erupted and flowed out like a volcano. The teacher first gave a demo of the experiment after which the children did the experiment with their respective house groups. Each house goup used their house colour food colouring. The children enjoyed doing the experiment and watching the eruption of doffernet colours.
