Diwali - The festival of lights. On this day people pray to Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) for wealth and prosperity. Loads of sweets, lighting of diyas (lamps) and bustring crackers are the essence of this festival.
At Ekadaksha Learning Center we gave the children an experience of all the above. Piggy banks made of clay were painted by the children. Each child put Rs.1/- or Rs.2/- into the piggy bank and these were then placed for the puja. This was done to encourage parents to teach their children to save money.
Children painted diyas in bright colours, helped to light them and decorate the Center. Later, we burst crackers. Some children were scared and some were excited. In the end all of them enjoyed either bursting the crackers or just watching. Diwali indeed brought a lot of light at Ekadaksha Learning Center.
